Buying Our Freedom: Why Run Moore Finally Owns Its Name

By October 3, 2025No Comments

This week, I did a thing. Well, I bought a thing. For the last 11 years, while we have been working hard to grow Run Moore into the best version of itself, something was holding us back. Part of our identity was not ours and this week, I rectified it.

Back in 2014, when I first had the idea to open the store, I didn’t even settle on a name until the final stretch. From idea to opening was just six months, and I was still workshopping some truly awful names like Ridge Road Running or The Loop. It was my old college teammate who suggested Run Moore. Perfect.

Like anyone starting a business, I went online to see if runmoore.com was available. It was. But 24 hours later, it was gone. Unbeknownst to me, the site I used sold domain searches to squatters. Somebody sat on it for over a decade, driving the price higher every year. I refused to give in until this week.

For years we settled on letsrunmoore.com. It felt inclusive, it worked, but it wasn’t ours. Every time someone typed runmoore.com and landed on a blank page, they wondered if we had closed. Every time I gave my email address, it felt like we were a little less official.

Now, runmoore.com belongs to us.

I am not going to pretend handing some faceless git a bunch of money feels good, but I feel an incredible sense of relief and even freedom knowing our name is finally back where it belongs. Over the coming weeks you will see our website and emails switch over to the proper domain.

This is the start of a new chapter for Run Moore. Thanks for supporting us through every version, Run Moore, LetsRunMoore, and everything in between. The best is still ahead.
