Let’s check in with our #IRunMoore ambassador Jose

Mi Gente, the world is your oyster! Strong lives are motivated by dynamic purposes, this includes my overall wellbeing. I also cross train with indoor spinning. Specifically, I use the power zone training because it’s one of the most effective ways to level up your fitness when it comes to indoor cycling. This type of training consists of sevens zones or range of outputs. Each zone is based on each rider’s performance test, you find out what your Functional Threshold Power (FTP) is. Every eight weeks I retake my FTP test and see how I have improved.

As a runner and as I age, I can’t run every day because of injuries I sustained in the Army. However, when you spin, you reduce your risk of injury in two ways. First, you are substituting a high-impact with a no-impact workout, giving your joints a break. Second, the muscles worked on the bike vary from those used while running. Strengthening different (weaker) muscles in your body will provide greater muscular balance. Another advantage to spinning is doing steeper hills and fast flats. It doesn’t matter if you are training for a 5K or a marathon. I also know that the mind is so much stronger than my body, Spinning allows me to really make that mind-body connection which is important for success. I have learned to go into a meditate state of mind and focused. This what spinning has done for me, it doesn’t matter if its 90 degrees or a blizzard outside, I can ride anytime and get an awesome workout!

In Iraq and Afghanistan I routinely carried between 60 and 100 pounds of gear including body armor, weapons and batteries etc… So cross training was a must for soldiers. This type of training has carried over as a civilian for me. AHere are some other reasons to cross train, Injury Rehabilitation, Muscle Balance, Weight Loss Go Faster Active Recovery Avoid the Boredom and Enjoy Other Sports. Mi gente adventure is all about personal discovery! This past weekend I went to Las Vegas to run in the rock and roll series, yes will have pictures! Until we meet again remember that life is a gift not a right! HOOAH!
