It’s been almost two weeks since we’ve moved into our new home on Main Street. The reception we have heard from the community has been amazing. It’s really fun giving people the little tour around the shop to show off the cool artwork, custom woodwork, open layout, and the new products we are carrying. We are also noticing a lot of new faces coming in the door that didn’t know us despite being a Westminster shop for so long. It’s been great now that the stress from moving is past us.
This week marks the 5th anniversary of being in business. It’s an accomplishment I am so proud of. For those who have been with us since the beginning, I want to sincerely thank you. This store would not have made it five months without the local community supporting us. We really struggled early on getting respect or even an opportunity from some of the major running brands. It never occurred to me when we were opening up that any manufacturer would not want to work with an independent running store. We had to work really hard to not only prove to ourselves but to disprove a weird misconception about Carroll County and the number of runners that were out here. It’s with a huge sense of pride that we get to tell the world we are here after five years and now in a space twice the size.
With this new space and growing other aspects of the business, we have needed to have a full-time manager in the shop. We needed someone who has a running background, knows the local community and loves running. Luckily, we have had someone with us for all these years to accept the position – Colleen Kernan! Most everyone has either seen Colleen, read about her running career or been fitted by here in the past. She had an amazing college career at Elizabethtown College and is now getting ready for her first marathon. When you see Colleen be sure to congratulate her on the new position!
