On August 22nd, 2014, Run Moore opened its doors. The idea for the shop came about after my second son was born. It was an incredibly daunting and rewarding process. Without having any real idea what I was doing, we tentatively flipped the sign to open.
During our first year, I still worked another job. I had an employee work during the daytime and I worked nights and weekends. When he could not work, I would use a vacation day or try to work remotely from the shop. After a year of working both jobs 7 days a week, I decided I had to make a change. I quit my old job on became full-time at Run Moore. Having never done anything like this, I grossly overestimated the type of business we would do. I can’t even begin to explain the pain of sitting in the store all day and not having a single customer come in or even call. I would count down the hours for our mail to be delivered just to interact with another person. Slowly, we started to build our business.
In the years since, we moved to a larger space, won some big awards, expanded our selection, created a modest YouTube channel and survived a pandemic. It’s been an unbelievable ride and I am excited about what’s ahead.
